EMS RECENT NEWS ESPN General Manager Speaks at Sloan October 31, 2003 CAMBRIDGE, MA -- ESPN the Magazine SVP and General Manager Geoff Reiss spoke at MIT Sloan today about ESPN's business and his career with the company. Prior to his current position, Geoff was Senior Vice President of programming, production and operations for ESPN Internet Group (EIG), the worldwide leader in online sports. Reiss managed the development and production of ESPN.com, in addition to the entire EIG fleet of services, which includes the official sites of the NFL, NBA, NASCAR and WNBA, and Soccernet, the most popular soccer site in the world. Reiss joined Starwave Corporation in 1993. At Starwave, Reiss led the team that developed ESPN SportsZone, a site that, as ESPN.com, continues to be the most popular sports site on the Web. The partnership between Starwave and ESPN grew more integrated and eventually formed ESPN Internet Ventures in April 1997, creating increased synergy between ESPN.com and all of ESPN, Inc.'s vast resources. Before joining Starwave, Reiss spent six years at Spy magazine as vice president and general manager. He also helped launch Nickelodeon magazine and has worked in advertising, politics, and journalism. Reiss graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with a B.A. in Political Science. |
